Fender even had a hand in there, which is interesting, as Wayne Charvel worked for them in his early days. By the end of the 80's the Charvel name was sold again and production moved to Asia. In the beginning Charvel just made aftermarket parts, moved to making guitars with parts from several different OEMs in the trade.and this Bohemian approach lasted well into the Jackson years. The problem is that from the late 70's until now the Charvel name has had several different owners. Not to cast aspersions, some of these guitars and basses were really very good. If yours is a 1986 model, then you're in the Jackson years, so a search for Jackson schematics is probably in order. These Jackson pickups were all passive, but you could get a primitive preamp option. Newey's right, the early 80's Charvels used primarily Jackson pickups.unless it was custom.then yeah, you got what was hot that week. Model numbers were more like suggestions and wiring configs could vary within a model year. The JT6 is a Jackson licenced Floyd Rose which is not bad at all.Would it be possible to post a couple pictures of what you've got? Documentation and standardization was not a big thing with the 80's Charvels and Jacksons. Das aktive Modell 6 mit eingeleimtem Hals war darĂ¼ber hinaus auch eine echte Alternative zu der seinerzeit sehr beliebten fast baugleichen, aber viel teureren Jackson Soloist USA. Pro model (fulcrum) for 2 and 3, flushmount for 4 to 6. Model 4 and 6 have sharkies except for 1986 models and model 4m (student) Model 88: slanted humbucker, reverse headstock, quite rare. Reverse headstock, some had a maple neck. 5a had only one humbucker, 5FX had a slanted single coil in the bridge. Pickups were the J50B humbucker and J200 stacked single coils Collings, Sadowsky, Mike Lull Custom Guitars, Charvel, Jackson, Hamer, Guild. As oposed to the Charvel model 1, model 2, model 3 and model 4. It features a neck-through construction and active electronics (Jackson JE-1200 circuit). 1986 had Kahler flushmount, others had a JT6, they also had the JE1200 midboost (6db midboost, I love it). Brand: Axe Heaven Size: Each guitar model is approximately 10 in length. The Charvel Model 6 is one of the top line guitars of the Charvel Model series. Model 3: dual hum model 2, model 3a had 3 single coils I think, maybe there's a version with HSS pickups (single coils were J100) Model 2: as model one, but with JT6 or Kahler pro (for 1986) Model 1: maple or rosewood fingerboard, single J90c humbucker, vintage style bridge
